All in one versatility.
Technique. Training. Rowing. Sculling.
The Oartec Simulator is not your average rowing machine.
Other rowing machines merely mimic the rowing stroke. This is the real thing, except the water of course.
Why? Because it has oars.
You can row with one oar or scull with two, just how you would in a rowing boat.
There is no more imagination required. You are rowing.
Now the rowing machine has become all that it could ever be.
How you use it is up to you.
The Oartec Simulator offers a unique rowing experience and delivers the best simulation of the rowing and sculling strokes possible on an indoor rowing machine.
This means that the Simulator’s versatility can be utilized for a number of different purposes, from general fitness workouts in the home or gym to being used daily for rowing specific training and technical improvement in professional rowing programs.
Until now, technique focus on indoor rowing machines has been limited to movements in the one dimension. Without the arc movement of oars around the pivot, the positioning and engagement of the upper body, arms and hands is very different to what happens in a boat.
The Simulator replicates the same technical movements of sweep rowing and sculling and the same faults on the water show up on the Simulator.
The technical element of rowing on the Simulator adds extra dimension to the rowing stroke with not only a broader physical utilization of muscle groups, but a more mentally stimulating exercise also.
The Simulator creates many training options. No two training sessions need be the same. Daily or weekly training sessions can be divided between sweep and sculling, to work the body in balance and avoid the repetition of indoor rowing workouts.
Coaching made easier
The Simulator makes the process of coaching and improving technique easier by being able to rehearse technical changes in real time in a stable indoors environment.
The coach can easily access the rower to position and demonstrate the technical change they want the rower to make without hindering the stroke. This close proximity coaching is a major advantage and makes the coach to rower communication clear and understood, saving valuable time in the process.
The use of visual feedback such as video cameras or mirrors greatly enhances the value of the Simulator as an effective means to make major technical changes and improvements. The rower can then see their own technique and make corrections from stroke to stroke, recognizing the way they row and how a subtle change might look and feel, so that they can then implement this technical change out on the water more easily.
Learn to Row
Learn to row for all ages now has a substantial first step in acquiring the skills of rowing and sculling before getting onto the water for the first time, improving considerably the time it takes to reach a proficient level and enjoyment on the water.
Athlete Rehabilitation After Injury
The Oartec Simulator is ideal for the rehabilitation of injured rowers by allowing a stage by stage reintroduction into the full range of movements, rebuilding confidence in the athlete and testing the aggravation threshold to the injury with simulated training before getting back into a boat.
The Simulator minimizes the risks associated with assessing the progress of the rower’s rehabilitation by providing a balanced boat simulation where the tempo, intensity and range of movement can be controlled by the rower.
